LOCATION
Jaén is one of the eight provinces of
Andalusia and it is located in the Northern part of
this Autonomous Community. The limits of Jaén
correspond to the borders of the Castilian Plateau and
the Betic System mountain range to the South. The Guadalquivir
valley, the most important basin of Andalusia, makes
its way from the centre of Jaén. This province
borders to the North with the Castilian provinces of
Ciudad Real and Albacete, to the South and East with
Granada and to the West with Córdoba.
ACCESS
Jaén
is well connected by a wide network of roads and railways.
The Andalusian Highway, the IV State main road, crosses
Jaén from North to South. The Despeñaperros
natural mountain pass is 40 km away from Bailén,
which is a communication junction where the N-323
Highway, which leads to Jaén and Granada, starts.
Other important roads are: N-322, which crosses the
towns of La Loma, Las Villas and Segura; and N-423,
which links the Sierra Sur towns.
